Weekend at the Lake

I made a decision at 3:30pm on Friday to reserve a site for the weekend just to relax and camp. Allergies have given me the CONSTANT dripping in my throat and this horrible cough, but I thought I could cough at home or cough at the lake…LAKE! Clocked out of work at 4:32 pm, drove home, threw some things in the camper and was heading out the driveway at 5:40 pm.  Left somewhat early on Sunday to get home for our 70th Annual Vajdak family reunion.

💜💜💜 Highlights of this trip💜💜💜

Hiking with my bro

👩🏻 Who I went with: Solo, my brother visited for a little while Saturday morning and we hiked and went to grab a bite for lunch.

👀 Things I saw: Lake is up to normal. Horsemint, Partridge Peas (bees and green flies love them) and Indian Blankets are in bloom.

🐦 Wildlife I encountered: Cardinals, Squirrels, Cottontails, Blue Heron, Black Vulture

🚶🏻‍♀️Trails I walked: Bluestem Bend - Eagle Point Loop. 1.48 mi

🚵🏻‍♀️ Trails I biked: Just on the roads. 3.03 mi

🛒 Where I shopped: Dollar General, Kovasovic's Meat Market & Grocery (Good meat, produce, good weekly sales)

🍽 Where I ate: Spanky's Backstreet Diner (no beer sales, but a little liquor store next door that you can bring over. Several combos with a sandwich/burger, fries and tea for only $7! Try the hot ketchup), Bottlenecks Bar and Grill (Food, live music, pool tables. Met a friend for beers and pizza.)

👢 Dances I attended: Jody Nix at Diamond I Venue in Dime Box. It was not far and I always have jeans and boots in the camper.

📚 What I learned: Biking and walking use different muscles. Need to work on my biking muscles. Not a lot of boats on the lake, but lots of waves from them.

🤣 A laughable moment: Fun times with friends at Diamond I

😮 A surprising moment: The stars were beautiful and the Big Dipper hung directly over the camper. The water was cooler than I expected. It was nice sitting in it for a while, even with the waves, to get a little sun.

🙃 An unforeseeable moment:  I forgot coffee! I bought coffee and could only get whole bean. I forgot to grind it.  Hence the shopping trip to Dollar General.

🛍️ My favorite souvenir: A new medallion for my walking stick

You can see the lake from the front of the site
