My First Boondockers Welcome Stay

This was my first time to be a guest at a Boondockers Welcome site. They have been combined into the new Harvest Hosts site and it is not as conducive to hosts as the BW app was, but since this was a public place with a Website and Facebook Page, I was able to talk to the host and secure a spot anyway. The host and staff were very pleasant and laid back.

Boondockers Welcome allows you stay at over 2000 locations across the US at homes, farms, businesses, etc. for no extra charge (except maybe a few dollars if hookups are available). Click the link above for 15% off your membership. Ask me about my host site in Burleson County, Texas.

⛺Back-In
πŸ’² 15/per night for hookups
  • 30 amp only - a heavy duty extension cord like I have
  • The neighbors had the hose if I had needed to top off my tank
  • Site Pad: Grass. Had a little difficulty finding a level spot
πŸ‘πŸ» Pros:
  • My site was mostly surrounded by trees and brush, secluded, quiet
  • Cedar Elm trees will be changing colors soon
πŸ‘ŽπŸ» Cons:
• No water connection or dump station - but it is Boondocking, so…

πŸ“ "Park" Notes:
  • You are free to drive or roam around the property
  • If a gate is closed, be sure to close it back
  • Don't mess with the animals
  • They have a small above-ground pool if you desire
  • There are tables on the porch, picnic tables on the grounds and a hammock
  • Locals come by just to get food at the Market
  • There is a Munzee here now

🐦 Wildlife and Livestock:

  • Birds
  • Chickens
  • Cows
  • Horses
  • Dog
  • Cat
πŸ’œ Highlights of this trip:
  • The market has fresh milk, eggs, yogurt, etc.
    •  Get milk in quart or gallon jars. Bring the jars back for refills
  • Frozen meat - bacon, steaks, pork chops, etc.
  • Some crafty items are for sale as well
  • Several craft beers available on tap- I tried the Blonde. And a margarita machine!
  • Limited menu that changes weekly, but very good homemade food
    • I had a big soft pretzel, bread pudding and brisket-filled baked potato
  • Nice older kitten in the market
